Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the OwedLess website and application ("Service") operated by OwedLess ("we", "our", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use OwedLess. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

2. Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
  • You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts for the same person.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to access another user's data or account
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service
  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service

4. The Service

OwedLess is a debt payoff planning tool. The Service allows you to:

  • Enter and track your debts
  • Calculate payoff timelines using various strategies
  • Log payments and track progress
  • Model what-if scenarios
  • Export your data

All financial data in OwedLess is entered by you manually. We do not connect to banks, credit bureaus, or any financial institutions. We do not verify the accuracy of the data you enter.

5. Subscriptions and Billing

Free Plan

The free plan provides limited access to OwedLess features at no cost. We may modify the features available on the free plan at any time.

OwedLess+ Plan (Paid)

  • Monthly subscription: Billed at $5.99 USD per month. You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
  • Yearly subscription: Billed at $24.00 USD per year. Yearly subscriptions are non-refundable. Your access continues until the end of your paid period. You will not be charged again after your subscription lapses unless you renew.
  • Lifetime plan: A one-time charge of $49.00 USD grants access to OwedLess+ features for as long as the OwedLess service is operational. The lifetime plan is limited to the first 500 customers and may be withdrawn once that cap is reached. Lifetime purchases are non-refundable except where required by law. "Lifetime" refers to the operational life of the service, not the lifetime of the purchaser; if the service is discontinued, lifetime access ends at that point with no further obligation on either party.
  • Access codes: Promotional access codes grant OwedLess+ access for a specified duration. Access codes are non-transferable and may not be resold.

Prices may change with 30 days notice. Existing subscribers will be notified before any price change affects their renewal. Lifetime customers are not subject to future price changes.

Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms of service. We do not store your payment card details.

6. Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your information.

You retain ownership of all data you enter into OwedLess. We do not claim any rights to your financial data. You may export or delete your data at any time.

7. Financial Disclaimer

OwedLess is an informational tool, not a financial advisory service. Please review our full Financial Disclaimer. By using the Service, you acknowledge that:

  • We are not licensed financial advisors, planners, or counselors
  • Calculations and projections are estimates based on the data you provide
  • We do not guarantee any financial outcome
  • You should consult a qualified financial professional before making financial decisions

8. Intellectual Property

The OwedLess name, logo, design, code, and content are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission.

Your data belongs to you. Our calculation algorithms, article content, tips, and user interface design belong to us.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • OwedLess is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
  • We are not liable for any financial losses, missed payments, incorrect calculations, or decisions you make based on information from the Service.
  • Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless OwedLess and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

  • By you: You may delete your account at any time through Settings. This permanently removes all your data.
  • By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice. In the case of a paid subscription terminated by us without cause, we will provide a pro-rated refund.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice in the application at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State in which OwedLess is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
